The Association for Music Therapy (Singapore) is happy to present our

Inaugural Music Therapy Community Awareness Day 2010.

We are so thrilled to feature distinguished guest speaker, Dr. Clive Robbins*, world-renowned Music Therapy Pioneer and co-originator of Nordoff-Robbins Creative Music Therapy!
Music is capable of a very wide field of expression. When a therapist uses live improvised music, he/she can create it to closely match and meet the needs of a particular client. Different clients have different needs and call for different kinds of music. Music is also a very direct means of communication and can often bypass barriers caused by different pathologies. This is why many patients/clients find their music therapy sessions to be particularly enjoyable and releasing. The effectiveness of Creative Music Therapy will be illustrated by a series of short video case studies by the world-renowned music therapist, Dr Clive Robbins. Our very own local music therapist, Dr Patsy Tan will also be sharing on her development and patient journey using Music Therapy in Singapore General Hospital (SGH). Following that, do take the opportunity to meet the local music therapists and widen your horizons about the music therapy scene in Singapore. Date: 11 April 2010

Time: 2-5pm (registration starts at 1.30pm)
Venue: Central Lending Library (NLB) Basement 1 Multipurpose Room

This event is made possible by the generosity of our sponsors, Advanced Bionics and The Hearing Solution Company, our venue partner, NLB, and our co-organizer, the Singapore General Hospital.
